Large Self Help Self Harm Recovery Blood Roller, High Anxiety and Mental Health Crisis Support Care Kit

£19.99

Self-harming is a behaviour that can affect people of all ages and often acts as a coping mechanism, helping those affected deal with distress, anxiety, burn-out and exhaustion; with not only obvious physical implications but also detrimental mental implications too, e.g. guilt and shame.

Self-cutting is one of the more common forms of self-harm, whereby someone will deliberately cut their skin to draw blood. It is understood to serve a purpose and a function that may offer a release of overwhelming feelings or communicate an inner state to the individual. It is a common strategy used by people of all ages when in high levels of distress, anxiety and mental health turmoil. The role of the 'sight of blood' can be crucial for individuals who self injure by cutting, it gives a purpose to the urge and a function as it can assist the release of overwhelming feelings and despair.

Self-harming by self-cutting is a growing clinical problem, so finding a safe alternative is a positive way forward.

This blood roller is a safe alternative to the act of self-cutting, designed to provide similar coping mechanism benefits but in a safe and consistent manner. The roller has been designed by a health care professional with first-hand experience of supporting people who self-harm.

With many years experience in this area, I work within schools, mental health facilities (including secure units) and provide counselling services to both children and adults, and counselling support to both pre- and postvention suicide, with a degree in Psychology & Sociology, a Masters degree in Child and Adolescent mental Health. My experience has driven me to create support ideas in handy-kit formats to help prolong or resist urges to self-harm.

Each product contains one 10ml glass roller bottle, with a 'fake' blood solution, made from 4 different components to my own design, to provide an optimal 'sight of blood' sensation.

This product may stain garments/fabrics, but washes off skin with soap and water.

The added care kit has been designed to provide similar coping mechanism benefits to those achieved by those who choose to self-harm, but in a safe and consistent manner, and includes:

- 4x Therapy cards (Crisis Information and Support, Helpful Resources, Self-Soothing Techniques, Safe Alternatives)

- Affirmation card

- Spiky Ball

- Spiky Sensory Ring

- Photo Keyring

- Egg Timer

- Wooden Peg

- Elastic bands

- Sour Sweets

- Popping Candy

- Red Dot Stickers

- Paper Straw

- Scratch-board

- Linen Draw-String Bag
